We just got back from our weekend series against Robert Morris College. We knew going into this series it was going to be a battle the entire weekend since both games were worth 4 points.
The first game turned out to be the closest out of the two. The first and second period we were playing a pretty steady game we were up 4-1 going into the third. Robert Morris wouldn’t give up without a fight. After the first 10 minutes they had scored two goals to keep the score close 4-3, then with a cyclone goal after there two goal run we tried to pull away with it. Once again they wouldn’t give up they scored to make 5-4, but in the end it was another cyclone win 6-4.
The second game was close until the 3rd period when we pulled away to win it 6-1 another 6 goal game, which concluded the weekend with our winning streak still rolling 12 games and counting. We had goals from all of the lines and with a 2nd period frenzy of Coach Murdoch getting kicked out that must have sparked a flame under us to pull away in the second game. Both games Robert Morris played a hard hitting game uncontrollable at times, but I believe that helped us develop our skills as a team since we haven’t faced a hard hitting team like that this year. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years and hope to see you on the ice!

We just wrapped up our series with Missouri State. Our first game was on Friday night, and was in front of a great and lively Cyclone crowd. They were prepared and ready for us; however, we came out hard and were able to get them down early and keep them down for the remainder of the contest, resulting in a 9-2 blowout win. On Saturday night, the match was a bit tighter through the first period, but we were able to and capitalize with a strong second and third period, finishing with a winning score of 7-4.
Scoring was seen from all lines this weekend, and we should only be getting stronger as some players sidelined due to injury are getting healthy. We would like to continue our winning streak through winter break and beyond. Its finals time, so the Cyclone hockey players will be focused on succeeding on and off the ice for the next couple of weeks. Hope to see all our fans at the big rivalry game against Iowa this weekend (Dec. 7 @ D.M. Bucs Arena, Dec. 8 @ Cedar Rapids).

It was a tough road trip for the Cyclones this past weekend with two loses to
13th ranked Kent State. Friday's game Kent State came out flying in the first
period and got off to a quick lead. We battled back with our power play in the
second period and ended it in a tie. The third period proved to be the
difference with Kent State capitalizing on more of their opportunities leaving
us hungry to beat them Saturday night.
In the second game we came out strong and scored right away. Carrying a lead
into the second neither team was able to capitalize. Again the third period
proved to be the difference for Kent State as they came from behind and scored 5
goals in the third to win the weekend.
We are looking forward to our upcoming road trip to Arizona State as we take on
the Sun Devils down in the heat. Two big games for us to prove what we can do.

This past week we faced off against the University of Michigan Dearborn Wolves. On Saturday we played them in Des Moines at the
legendary Bucs Arena and it was a barn burner beating Michigan Dearborn 9-4 with goals from freshmen and veteran hockey players.
We came back to Ames that night and got ready to face a new more prepared Michigan team on Sunday back in our barn.
We ended the weekend with a 5-4 victory against the Wolves A SWEEP!
We hope to keep our winning streak going against a powerful Oklahoma team this weekend on Friday and Saturday. Hope to see you
all at the rink and remember keep your stick on the ice!
