The Al Murdoch Show

Watch Cyclone Hockey's weekly coach's show featuring General Manager and Head Coach Al Murdoch, the Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week, and other guests, hosted by Cyclone Hockey Director of Communications Kevin Wey.  The show is taped live Tuesday nights at 7:00 and broadcast on ISUtv, which is channel 18 for Mediacom cable subscribers in and around Ames. The show can also be seen online anytime at ISUtv or the YouTube channel of The Al Murdoch Show.

Host Kevin Wey and Coach Murdoch review the Cyclones' high-scoring weekend against the up-and-coming Waldorf Warriors, Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week Ryan Reid joins the show for a segment, D3 team captain and ACHA D3 Pacific Region All-Third Team and All-Academic member Mike Scebold stops in to chat, and Wey and Murdoch finish up the show with a quick preview of Iowa State's opening-round matchup against the Oklahoma Sooners at the 2012 ACHA Men's Division 1 National Tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. February 21, 2012
Host Kevin Wey, Coach Murdoch, and Coach McDonald review the team's disappointing 5-1 loss to Illinois at the 2012 CSCHL Tournament the previous Friday, and then Wey and Murdoch are joined by Cyclone utility player David Elliston before previewing the upcoming series against Waldorf, the team's final home series of the 2011-12 season. Host Kevin Wey and Coach Murdoch review the team's taming of the 14th-ranked Central Oklahoma Bronchos at home during the first segment and later preview the teams opening-round match against Illinois at upcoming 2012 CSCHL Tournament. In between, Wey and Murdoch are joined by Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week Justin Wilkinson to learn more about the solid defensive defenseman. Click here to watch.

Host Kevin Wey and Coach Murdoch hold a lights-out show, discussing the past weekend's games against ACHA Men's Division 1 ninth-ranked Robert Morris University, talking with Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week James Buttermore, and previewing the upcoming weekend against fourth-ranked Lindenwood University, which has become one of the Cyclones' top rivals in recent years. Don't be left sitting in the dark on topics like the World University Games and James' plan on how he'll play pro hockey in Europe.  Click here to watch.

Host Kevin Wey and Coach Murdoch discuss the sweep of CSCHL archrival Illinois at "The Pond" in Champaign the previous weekend and preview the upcoming weekend's series against the ACHA Men's Division1 ninth-ranked Robert Morris University. Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week Paul Karus also joins Wey discusses Karus's standout season with Karus and Coach Murdoch and what the future may hold for Karus if he keeps it up and continues to develop.  Click here to watch.

After a six-week hiatus, the show returns and host Kevin Wey and Coach Murdoch have a lot to catch Cyclone Hockey fans up on. Wey and Murdoch discuss the Cyclones' first two weekends of the second semester, on the road against Indiana and at home against Kent State, as well as series against Lindenwood and the Maple Grove Energy to close the first semester. Player of the Week David Kurbatsky, who had a trick Saturday night against Kent State, also joins the discussion.  Highlighted topics include the signing of Brent Cornelius to an ECHL contract and the participation of Cyclone Hockey Hall of Famer Joe Schaffer at the Red Bull Crashed Ice World Championship in St. Paul, Minn. On a somber note, Coach Murdoch talks about the  tragic passing of former Cyclone Hockey player and James Russo Academic Award winner Marcus Andary over the winter break. Click here to watch.

After a break for Thanksgiving week, Host Kevin Wey, Coach Murdoch, and Coach McDonald discuss the team's road series against CSCHL rival Ohio University and the Cyclones' three games at the University of Michigan-Dearborn Holiday Classic. In addition, Cyclone Hockey Player of the Week Matt Bennett is interviewed, the team's upcoming "Jerseys Off Our Backs" promotion in conjunction with the MDA is discussed, and the team's upcoming series against archrival Lindenwood is previewed.
